Group A Practice Notes
Kyle Larson – Early in practice, Larson climbed to the top of the speed chart. The #5 had good speed over the course of a run. Larson practiced running different lines. Larson’s car was reported to be “Loose.” Larson had the best 5-lap average. Larson had problems during his qualifying lap so he’ll start near the back.
Bubba Wallace – Bubba Wallace had solid speed. Wallace was reported to be unable to run on the bottom of the track over a longer run because the #23 was tight. In an interview, Wallace said his car was pretty good. He felt really competitive in turns 3 and 4 but said he needed to be better in 1 and 2. Wallace had the 5th best 10-lap average.
Chris Buescher – The #17 showed solid speed in Group A. 15 minutes into practice while he was 2nd overall, Buescher told his team that he’s unable to get back to full throttle quickly off the corner and it’s really hurting him on the straightaways. Buescher had the 2nd best & 2nd best 10 lap average.
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick was said to be very unhappy with his car.
Ty Gibbs – The #54 was fast in practice and had good speed over a run. Ty Gibbs ran 48 laps so he should have a good feel for his car. Gibbs ranked #1 in terms of 10,15,20 and 25 lap averages.
