Asterisk Mark Report – Texas (2022)
Chase Elliott – Last fall at Texas, Chase Elliott belongs in the conversation of being the best, but his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 183 while leading, Elliott got into the wall hard which marked the end of his race leading to his 32nd. In the race, Elliott led 44 laps and had the best Total Speed Ranking. Over the segments he competed, Elliott had speed rankings of 6th, 1st and 1st.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch looked strong and showed potential last year at Texas, but he also had a short race and finished 36th. On lap 48 while running in 4th, Busch crashed which marked the end of his race. In segment #1, Busch ranked 8th in terms of speed.
Christopher Bell – Last fall, Christopher Bell was a top ten contender but twice in the race he had problems while running in 7th. On lap 136 at the time of his second flat tire he crashed hard which marked the end of his race leading to his 34th.
Martin Truex Jr. – Last fall, I wouldn’t argue with anyone who said Martin Truex Jr. was the strongest but multiple problems led to his asterisk mark 31st. In the race, Truex had his first problem on lap 39 when he spun and backed the #19 into the wall. Truex rallied back but then on lap 267 while leading, Truex had a flat tire and crashed which marked the end of his race.
