Charlotte Roval Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Chase Elliott
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Spin – 7-time road course winner, Chase Elliott will be tough to beat at the Charlotte Roval. Elliott was robbed of the win here last fall and “Performance Wise”, Elliott could easily have 4-straight Charlotte Roval wins. I’ll assure you; the rumors of Elliott’s road course racing demise are greatly exaggerated. In 2023 on this track type minus Watkins Glen, Elliott is 3 for 3 at finishing in the top five and has a 3.3 average finish. With Elliott going all out for the win and not points racing like a third of the field, look for Elliott to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Charlotte Roval Track History – Chase Elliott has been the premier performer at the Charlotte Roval and “Performance Wise”, Elliott could easily have 4-straight wins. That said, Elliott only has 2-wins and currently has back-to-back asterisk mark results. Over the five combined Charlotte Roval races, Elliott has the best average finish (8.0, among drivers who competed in every race), the best driver rating, the best average running position (9.3) and he’s averaged leading the most laps per race (18.8). Last year, Elliott was the class of the field but finished an asterisk mark 20th. In the race, Elliott led 30 laps but while leading late and having the race all but won, late cautions broke out which eventually led to Elliott getting spun out and finishing 20th. In the race, Elliott had the 3rd best driver rating, the 3rd best average running position (5.3), ranked 2nd for Speed Late In A Run and had the 4th best Total Speed Ranking. In 2021, Elliott had a great car but finished an asterisk mark 12th. In the race, Elliott won Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2, led 2 laps but then on lap 55 while he was in the process of working his way up thru the field because of pit strategy, Harvick wrecked him. In the first two segments prior to the #9 getting damaged, Elliott had speed rankings of 1st and 5th. In 2020, Elliott didn’t have an incident free race either, but he still managed to race his way to victory lane. In the race, Elliott finished 2nd in Stage #2, but right when the final Stage was going green, he came to pit road because of a loose wheel. Over the final segment when it was closing time, Elliott had the fastest car on the track. In 2019, Elliott crashed while leading in the final Stage, but wouldn’t be denied the win and put on a display of domination. On lap 66 while leading during a restart he locked up his brakes and went nose first into the tire barrier. He bounced back from that and had no problems racing his way to the front. Elliott’s strength was being fast late in a run, and in that speed analytic he ranked #1. In 2018 in the tracks debut, Elliott finished 6th.
William Byron
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Spin – At the Charlotte Roval, look for William Byron to be a contender. Byron’s been one of the best at the Roval in recent races and at Watkins Glen the most recent road course visited, Byron smoked the field and raced his way to victory lane in dominant fashion (Best Total Speed Ranking, led 66 laps).
