Asterisk Mark Report – Las Vegas (#1 2023)
Joey Logano – This spring at Las Vegas, Joey Logano looked about mid-teens good but early in the final Stage on lap 183 while running in 15th he crashed which doomed him to a 36th.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch finished 14th this spring, but you can get out an asterisk mark for that result. On lap 30 while running in 7th, Busch slapped the wall pretty hard and that impacted his level of performance for the remainder of the afternoon. With 4 to go before the late caution came out, Busch was in 11th.
Denny Hamlin – This spring, Denny Hamlin finished 11th but you can get out an asterisk mark for that result. Before the late caution came out, Hamlin was poised to finish in 3rd.
Christopher Bell – This spring at Las Vegas, Christopher Bell benefited from the late caution and snuck in a 5th. With 4 to go before it came out he was in 13th. I’ll note, Bell did have a great car but over the final segment he had a vibration which dropped him back. In the race, Bell finished 4th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #2 and had the 7th best Total Speed Ranking.
Tyler Reddick – This spring at Las Vegas, Tyler Reddick finished 15th but you can get out an asterisk mark for that result. In the race, Reddick started in the back, raced as high as 6th on lap 196 but then he got loose and into the wall. The damage wasn’t severe, but it had him fading back to 12th when the late caution came out with 4 to go.
Martin Truex Jr. – This spring at Las Vegas, Martin Truex Jr. had a slightly misleading result and finished 7th. With 4 to go before the late caution came out he was in 4th.
Ross Chastain – This spring, Chastain finished 12th but you can get out an asterisk mark for that result. With 4 to go before the late caution came out, Chastain was in 7th.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney was a late caution victim this spring and finished a misleading 13th. Before the late caution came out, Blaney was poised to finish in 8th.
Justin Haley – Justin Haley snuck in an 8th this spring at Las Vegas but don’t read into that finish too much. Before the late caution came out with 4 to go, Haley was back in 16th.
Austin Cindric – This spring at Las Vegas, Austin Cindric benefitted from the late caution and snuck in a 6th. With 4 laps to go before the late caution came out, Cindric was back in 14th.
