Group A Driver Practice Notes
Denny Hamlin – The #11 unloaded fast and Hamlin went to the top of the speed chart early. Hamlin had a “Bolt/Shifter” and came to pit road after only completing 4 laps. Hamlin said his car is OK/solid during an interview. Jeff Burton seemed to like the way the #11 looked despite him being on newer tires late in practice compared to the competition.
William Byron – The #24 was solid on the stopwatch. Byron started with a mock qualifying run which put him 3rd. Midway thru Group A, Byron reported that he has “Good Pace.” Byron ran 50-laps so he should have a good feel for his car. Byron said he thinks he’s solid during an interview.
Tyler Reddick – Reddick looked solid. Jeff Burton really liked Reddick’s “Race Pace.” Reddick felt good about his car. Reddick said he feels good about his car and he likes his chances during an interview. Reddick had the best 30-lap average. During his qualifying lap, Reddick spun and didn’t hit anything.
Kyle Busch – Busch had good speed over a long run and had the best 20-lap average.
Brad Keselowski – “General balance is a little tight, but what’s hurting the worst is on the throttle I’m free.” Keselowski never made a 10-lap run.
