Busch Light Clash – Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Chris Buescher
Clash Fantasy Outlook – Chris Buescher has never advanced to the “Clash”, but I have no doubt he’ll turn that around in 2024. RFK is more competitive than ever, and they now field one of the better short track programs in the series. Martinsville is the closest comp track and last fall, Buescher finished 8th there. In the Clash, look for Buescher to finish in the top half of the field, but don’t get too bullish.
Clash Track History – Chris Buescher has never made the “Main Event” at the LA Coliseum.
Ty Gibbs
Clash Fantasy Outlook – The rookie stripes are gone, and Ty Gibbs could be a driver to watch in the Clash as he begins year #2. Gibbs advanced to the “Main Event” last year and liked how the #54 performed but what I really like about Gibbs is how strong he looked at Martinsville last fall where he was a top five contender, before getting wrecked by Logano (Speed rankings of 5th and 3rd in the first two segments, wrecked in the last Stage while running in 3rd). In the Clash, I would view Gibbs as a mid-tier sleeper who has a good amount of upside.
Clash Track History – Last year in the Clash, Ty Gibbs finished 26th but you can quickly disregard that result. In the race, Gibbs started 24th, had a 23.7 average running position and then finished an asterisk mark 26th after getting hit hard on lap 81 while running around 20th which broke his spindle, marking the end of his race. In a post DNF interview, Gibbs said his car was fast but back in traffic he couldn’t go anywhere. In terms of Green Flag Speed, Gibbs ranked 22nd.
Chase Briscoe
Clash Fantasy Outlook – If you’re looking for a dark horse for the Clash, put Chase Briscoe high on your radar. Briscoe looked like one of the best here in 2022, and at Martinsville which I view as the best comp track he currently has four straight top tens, and swept the top five last year with results of 4th (fall, 3rd best Speed Ranking) and 5th (spring, 4th best Speed Ranking).
Clash Track History – In the 2023 Clash, Chase Briscoe was mediocre, which basically had him being a letdown since he was strong in 2022’s rendition. Last year, Briscoe started 7th, had a 12.7 average running position and then finished 15th. I’ll note, Briscoe’s race wasn’t incident free. On lap 109 while running in 10th he was spun, which dropped him to the back. In terms of speed stats, Briscoe ranked 11th for Green Flag Speed and Speed Late In A Run. In 2022, Briscoe was a contender. In his Heat Race he started 7th and finished 2nd, and then in the Clash, Briscoe’s race came to an early conclusion during the lap 54 caution while running in 4th. Although his race was short, Briscoe had the best Total Speed Ranking.
