COTA NASCAR Practice Notes
Group A Driver Notes
Tyler Reddick – Early in Group A round #1, Tyler Reddick spun and brought out the caution. Reddick didn’t hit anything. Early in round #2, Reddick jumped up to 2nd overall in practice (for the time). Following round #2, Reddick told his team that his car isn’t quite where it needs to be. “The track was pretty slick to start and just trying to keep up with it. Definitely don’t think we had the balance we needed to start.”
Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs unloaded fast and had great speed. Ty Gibbs did a mock qualifying run in round #2 which kept him #1. Gibbs ended round #2 with having the best 5-lap average.
AJ Allmendinger – Late in round #1, AJ Allmendinger was penalized for short cutting the track. Allmendinger had pretty good speed in practice. In round #2, the #13 car picked up a little more speed. Late in round #2, Allmendinger said he’s a little too free and it’s keeping him from being too aggressive. Allmendinger didn’t make a mock qualifying run. Allmendinger told his team he didn’t like adjustments they made late in round #2. Allmendinger said he was happy with how he unloaded but he feels like he let his team down.
Chase Briscoe – Midway thru round #1, Chase Briscoe was caught short cutting the track. Late in round #2, Briscoe recorded the 4th best overall 5-lap average. Late in round #2 he said, “It’s so inconsistent. With these slick tires, if you hit the dirt, it’s like ice.”
Brad Keselowski – Late in round #1, Brad Keselowski short cutted the track. In round #2, Keselowski was caught short cutting the track again.
