Asterisk Mark Report – All-Star Race North Wilkesboro 2023
Joey Logano – Joey Logano finished 10th in last year’s All-Star Race but that’s an asterisk mark result. Joey Logano really liked his car and was in 4th at the time of the midpoint caution, but then he got an uncontrolled tire penalty, and he just wasn’t able to fully bounce back. In the race, Logano ranked 6th for Green Flag Speed, had the 7th best Total Speed Ranking and his average running position was 7.7.
William Byron – William Byron finished 20th in last year’s All-Star Race but you can quickly disregard that result. Byron ran well early and was in 8th on lap 45, but then shortly after that on lap 54 he was in 12th and was said to be off pace. Not long after that, Byron made a green flag pit stop that dropped him off the lead lap and you could essentially stick a fork in him at that point.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch had a pretty ugly showing in last year’s All-Star Race and finished 22nd. Busch never ran well and he never liked his car. Busch also rolled the dice making a green flag pit stop in the first half of the race but that burned him and dropped him two laps down, dooming his evening.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Last year at North Wilkesboro there was only one caution for cause in the entire race, and that was Stenhouse getting spun while running in the mid-teens on lap 16. Stenhouse didn’t hit anything but after that he basically flatlined in last and went on to finish 24th. I would like to think that impacted him but from the looks of the spin, it shouldn’t have. In terms of speed stats, Stenhouse ranked last for Total Speed Rankings, Green Flag Speed and Speed Late In A Run.
