All-Star Drivers
Denny Hamlin – Early in practice (five minutes in), Denny Hamlin was the fastest driver on the primary tires in 7th. Hamlin was fast over a long run. Hamlin ranked #1 in terms of 25 and 30 lap averages. 20 minutes into practice, Hamlin went to the soft tire (Option) and jumped up to 2nd overall on the leaderboard. Hamlin said Goodyear nailed it with the tire combo this weekend.
William Byron – William Byron said he improved over the course of the NASCAR test at North Wilkesboro that was held earlier this year. William Byron had pretty good speed with the primary tire. Ten minutes into practice, Byron was 4th overall for the drivers who used that tire. Byron had the 13th best 10-lap average.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick started practiced on the primary tire. Five minutes into practice he ranked 3rd in terms of drivers on the primary tire. Reddick had the 2nd best 30-lap average.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott had one of the fastest cars on the primary tire. Elliott ranked 4th in terms of 15-lap averages and 8th in terms of 20-lap averages.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney jumped up to 2nd overall on the speed chart with about 15 minutes to go. Blaney said his car had good pace and he was happy the track got wide at the end. Blaney had the best 20-lap average.
