Charlotte Coca Cola 600 Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Joey Logano
Charlotte Fantasy Outlook – Joey Logano is fresh off an All-Star Race win so hopefully he can keep that momentum going. At Charlotte, Logano currently has three straight misleading results of 17th or worse but in those races he’s actually been a top ten contender so don’t overlook him. This year at high-speed 1.5’s, Logano has results of 9th (Las Vegas), 11th (Texas) and at Kansas he showed mid-teens potential before trouble struck.
Charlotte Track History – Joey Logano is a former winner at Charlotte (2015) who’s been solid but the last three races haven’t been incident free for him and his average finish since 2021 is 19.3. Over the three races prior to his cold mini streak, Logano’s average finish was 7th. Last summer, Logano finished 21st but he was a top ten contender late before being involved in two crashes. On lap 361 he was in 8th, but then on lap 362 he was semi-involved in a crash. Shortly after that, Logano was now in 12th on lap 369, but then on lap 374 he was collected in the final caution when Larson spun. In the race, Logano had the 13th best Total Speed Ranking, ranked 13th for Speed Late In A Run and had a 15.1 average running position. In 2022, Logano finished 6th in Stage #2, 6th in Stage #3, led 9 laps, had a 9.9 average running position but then finished 20th after wrecking in overtime. On lap 391 before late “Mega Mayhem” ensued he was running in 6th. In 2021, Logano was OK, but he wasn’t 17th place bad. In the race, Logano didn’t place in any Stage and had a 12.9 average running position. Early in the final Stage on lap 320 while running in 9th, Logano made an unexpected pit stop which got him out of sync with the field. With no cautions, he had to pit a second time in the final Stage which hurt him. In the four races prior to that, Logano had results of 6th, 13th, 2nd and 4th.
Ty Gibbs
Charlotte Fantasy Outlook – Young drivers in the past have got career win #1 in the Coca Cola 600, could Ty Gibbs be the next? Gibbs was sporty last year (crashed) and he’s been fast at high-speed 1.5’s this year (5th best Total Speed Ranking), so I wouldn’t be completely shocked. That said, I think it’s best to just view him as a top ten contender.
Charlotte Track History – Ty Gibbs was sporty last spring at Charlotte and a top ten contender, but finished an asterisk mark 26th. In the race, Gibbs finished 7th in Stage #2, finished 5th in Stage #3 but then late in the race on lap 374 while running around 8th, Gibbs was collected in a crash which led to his poor finish. Additionally, Gibbs had an 11.8 average running position and earned the 14th best Driver Rating.
Alex Bowman
Charlotte Fantasy Outlook – At Charlotte, look for Alex Bowman to have a solid showing and be a top ten contender. The #48 team is running well and clicking off good results, Charlotte has been a good track for him, and he just recently finished 7th at Kansas. For the season at high-speed 1.5’s, Bowman has the 11th best Total Speed Ranking.
Charlotte Track History – Charlotte has been a good track for Alex Bowman and in 6 of the last 8 races, Bowman’s finished in the top 12. Over the last three, Bowman has the 4th best average finish (9.0), the 9th best average running position (12.7) and the 10th best driver rating. Last year, Bowman started 31st but came home 12th. Additionally, Bowman earned the 10th best Driver Rating, had the 14th best Green Flag Speed and the 15th best Total Speed Ranking. In 2022, Bowman finished 10th despite his race not being incident free. Over the final quarter of the race, the #48 was the 8th fastest car on the track. In 2021, Bowman had a stellar showing. In the race, Bowman finished 10th in Stage #1, 7th in Stage #2, 5th in Stage #3 and then finished 5th when the checkered flag waved. Additionally, Bowman had a 7.3 average running position and then ranked 7th for Green Flag Speed, Speed Late In A Run and Total Speed Rankings.
