Sonoma NASCAR Practice Notes
Ross Chastain – About 20-minutes into practice, Chastain jumped up to #1 overall. Chastain had good speed and when practice ended, Chastain had the 2nd best 5-lap average and had the best 10-lap average. Chastain tested at Sonoma earlier this year.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick had good speed over an extended run. Reddick had the 2nd best 10-lap average and was the only driver who did a 15-lap run.
Martin Truex Jr. – Goodyear choose to bring the tire that Martin Truex Jr. picked from the test. Truex jumped up to 5th late in practice with a mock qualifying run (ended 10th). Truex had the 12th best 5-lap average.
Kyle Larson – Larson unloaded fast and was at the top of the leaderboard early. Larson had the best 5-lap average early. About 35-minutes into practice, Larson jumped back up to the top of the leaderboard. When practice ended, Larson had the best 5-lap average.
Ryan Blaney – 30 minutes into practice, Blaney jumped up to #1 overall. Blaney also had good speed over an extended run. In the closing minute of practice, Blaney jumped up to #1. Blaney had the 5th best 5-lap average.
