Iowa Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Christopher Bell
Iowa Fantasy Outlook – At Iowa, I think the road to victory lane likely goes thru Christopher Bell. Bell tested here just a few weeks ago, so he’ll likely have a big advantage on much of the field. One key attribute I love about Bell is how strong he’s been at shorter-flat tracks this year. In 2024 on this track type, Bell could’ve potentially won all three races. Over the combined races on this sub-track type in 2024, Bell has the best Total Speed Ranking, he’s tied for the best average finish (4.7), has the best Driver Rating and the best Average Running Position. Another attribute in Bell’s corner is that he’s previously had success here in the Xfinity series that you’ll read about below. On Sunday, look for Bell to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Iowa Track History – Christopher Bell has been elite at Iowa. Bell’s won here twice in the Xfinity series and over his last four starts in that division he had results of 2nd, 1st, 1st and 2nd. Overall in the Xfinity series, Bell has a 4.4 average finish. Another attribute I like about Bell is that he’s one of the more recent performers with his high-level of success having come in 2019 and 2018 when Iowa was most recently visited.
Kyle Larson
Iowa Fantasy Outlook – At Iowa, look for Kyle Larson to be tough to beat. Larson tested at Iowa earlier this year on the partially repaved new surface, so there’s every reason to believe he’ll unload fast and be dialed in. This year at shorter-flat tracks, Larson has the 6th best Track Type Total Speed Ranking, the 6th best average finish (9.0), the 6th best Driver Rating and the 4th best Average Running Position. One attribute that you can always trust about Larson is that the #5 will be fast and in terms of 2024 Total Speed Rankings At Conventional Tracks, Larson ranks 2nd this season.
Iowa Track History – In the Xfinity series at Iowa, Kyle Larson has two starts under his belt and back in 2013 he went 2 for 2 at finishing 5th.
Denny Hamlin
Iowa Fantasy Outlook – At Iowa, look for Denny Hamlin to unload fast and be tough to beat. Although Hamlin has never competed at Iowa, I don’t think that’s a disadvantage in the least and if anything, he won’t have old bad racing habits since part of the track was repaved since it was last visited (2019). The #11 is fast, week in and week out and in 2024, Hamlin ranks #1 in terms of Total Speed Rankings At Conventional Tracks Season To Date, and he also ranks #1 at Shorter-Flat Track Total Speed Rankings since 2023. This year at shorter-flat tracks, Hamlin’s been a standout performer, having won at Richmond, finishing 2nd at Gateway and performing much better than his 11th at Phoenix (led 68 laps, spun out while battling for the lead). Over the combined races held at shorter-flat tracks this year, Hamlin has the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking, the 2nd best Driver Rating, the 2nd best Average Running Position and he’s tied for having a series best 4.7 average finish.
Iowa Track History – “Old Man”, Denny Hamlin has never competed at Iowa in either the Xfinity series or Truck series.
