Iowa NASCAR Practice Notes
Christopher Bell – Early in practice, Christopher Bell was the only driver not practicing. Bell let others rubber in the track before he went out. When Bell went out on the track, he climbed up to #1 quickly. Bell was said to look really good. After logging 19 laps and being at the top of the speed chart, Bell had a tire go down and got into the wall hard. Letarte said that he thought the #20 was the best car until it his tire went down. Bell said his car was fast during an interview. Bell will be going to a backup car and will start in the rear of the field.
Ross Chastain – 30 minutes into practice, Ross Chastain had a tire go down. The #1 was pretty fast and 35 minutes into practice he had the 5th best 10-lap average. In the closing seconds of practice, Chastain spun on entry to pit road. When practice ended, Chastain had the 2nd best 5-lap average and the 13th best 10-lap average.
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson told his team that he wasn’t even running the same line that he did a few weeks ago during the test. Larson said it was sketchy about 20 minutes into practice. During his 2nd run, Larson jumped up to 2nd on the speed chart. When practice ended, Larson ranked 3rd overall for 10 and 15 lap averages and ranked 2nd for 20-lap averages.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick unloaded fast and had good speed. On a few different runs he jumped up to #1 overall on the speed chart. In the closing minutes of practice, Tyler Reddick had a tire go down (Lap 19 of his run). Reddick had the best 10 and 15-lap averages.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott was sporty and had good speed. In practice, Elliott was the only driver who did a +25-lap run. In practice, Elliott had the 12th best 10-lap average.
