Pocono Full Field Fantasy Rankings
1) Denny Hamlin
Start 4th / Projected Finish Range 1-6/ Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Pocono Outlook – Denny Hamlin is a dominant performer at Pocono and in “The Great American Getaway 400”, Hamlin will be the driver to beat and the road to victory lane goes thru him. At “The Tricky Triangle”, Hamlin’s a 7-time winner, and if you give him 2022 back (DQ’ed), then Hamlin has 8-wins and is 2 for 2 at winning in the Next Gen. Also in the new car, Hamlin has the best Total Speed Ranking, the best Driver Rating and the best Average Running Position. Hamlin has already warned the field he’s coming for them this weekend, so you better believe he’ll be tough to beat. In practice, Hamlin did a long run and had good speed.
Pocono Track Record Breakdown – Denny Hamlin is the premiere performer at Pocono and he’s mastered the “Tricky triangle.” Since 2019 when you credit him with his 2022 win and minus 2021 #2 where he pitted with a few laps to go for splash of gas while running in 2nd, Denny Hamlin has 4-wins and a 2.2 average finish. Last year, the #11 was fast and Hamlin came up clutch, racing his way to victory lane with late passes/crashes. In the race, Hamlin finished 3rd in Stage #1, finished 4th in Stage #2, had the 3rd best average running position, earned the 3rd best Driver Rating and of course finished 1st. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hamlin ranked 3rd. In 2022, Hamlin crossed the finish line first but NASCAR DQ’ed him in post-race inspection which led to his 35th. For fantasy purposes, it should definitely be viewed as a win. In the race, Hamlin had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking, the 2nd best Average Running Position, earned the 2nd best Driver Rating and led 21 laps. In 2021 #2, Hamlin was strong but finished 14th. In the race, Hamlin finished 2nd in Stage #2, was running in 2nd with 4 laps to go but then with 2 to go he had to duck down pit road for fuel. In 2021 #1, Hamlin finished 4th. In the three races prior to that, Hamlin had finishes of 1st, 2nd and 1st.

2) Martin Truex Jr.
Start 3rd / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium-High
Pocono Outlook – Martin Truex Jr. is a two-time winner at Pocono who’ll be a contender. Pocono’s been a great track for Truex and over the combined Next Gen races, Truex has a 5.0 average finish, he ranks 2nd for Driver Rating, ranks 2nd for Average Running Position and he’s tied for having the 4th best Next Gen Speed Ranking. In practice, Steve Letarte thought Truex was the best and in Group B, he ranked #1 for 5,10 and 15-lap averages.
Pocono Track Record Breakdown – Martin Truex Jr. has performed at a high-level at Pocono and he’s been one of the best in the Next Gen. Going back further over the last seven races minus 2021 #1, Truex has a 7.0 average finish and he’s had a result in the top 11 every race. Last year, Truex was one of the best. In the race, Truex finished 3rd, earned the 2nd best Driver Rating, had the 2nd best average running position (6.5) and led 20 laps. In terms of speed stats, Truex ranked 2nd for Total Speed Rankings, 2nd for Green Flag Speed and then 3rd for Speed Late In A Run. In 2022, Truex finished 7th in Stage #1, finished 10th in Stage #2 and then finished 7th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Truex ranked 10th. In 4 of the 5 races prior to that, Truex finished in the top 11.

3) Kyle Larson
Start 12th / Projected Finish Range 1-6 / Dominator Potential – Medium
Pocono Outlook – Kyle Larson is a super-elite performer at Pocono who should be high on your radar. Larson’s never won here, but he’s flirted with victory lane and ranks among the best. Larson came close to victory lane last year before getting into the wall and if he didn’t have a flat tire while leading on the last lap in the last turn in 2021 #1, he could’ve potentially won 2 of the last 4 races. If it wasn’t for those two races with problems while leading late, Larson could be 4 for 4 at finishing in the top five since 2021. With the weekly speed he brings to the table, look for Larson to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Pocono Track Record Breakdown – Kyle Larson is one of the premiere performers at Pocono and in recent races, he’s been especially stout. In the Next Gen, Larson has the 2nd best Next Gen Speed Ranking and he’s 2 for 2 at being a top five performer. Last year, the #5 ranked among the best and Larson nearly raced his way to victory lane, but late trouble denied him. In the race, Larson was spun out in Stage #2 while running in 2nd, but he battled back. Late in the race while leading on lap 153, Hamlin ran him high on the track and then the #5 got into the wall which had him rapidly fading to his asterisk mark 20th. Additionally, Larson won Stage #2, led 24 laps and ranked 7th in terms of Total Speed Rankings. In 2022, Larson had a great car and was a factor. In the race, Larson won Stage #1, finished 8th in Stage #2, led 18 laps and then finished 5th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Larson ranked 2nd. In 2021, Larson finished 2nd in race #2 despite starting in the rear of the field and then in race #1 he had a flat tire in the last turn on the last lap while leading which led to his misleading 9th.
