Richmond Cook Out 400 NASCAR Practice Notes
General Practice Note: Practice was a unified 45-minutes with no groups. Option tires were said to be good for about 25-30 laps. Option tires were definitely faster overall. Most of the fastest lap times in practice came from drivers who were out on the option tire early.
Christopher Bell – The #20 was fast and ten minutes into practice, Bell ranked 3rd overall and he was on the prime tires. Jeff Burton really liked what he seen out of Christopher Bell on the option tire late in practice.
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon was at the top of the leaderboard early using the option tire. Dillon said he was pretty decent but a little tight. His team told him that he looked really good. Dillon said his car was running good. Dillon was happy with his speed on prime tires too.
Bubba Wallace – Bubba Wallace unloaded fast and was at #2 overall early and the fastest driver on the Prime tire. The #23 was said to be tight. Wallace was happy with his car following practice. Wallace was one of the fastest on the prime tires.
Daniel Suarez – Daniel Suarez was fast on the option tire. He started with it and early in practice he had the best 15,20,25 and 30 lap averages. Suarez said his car was sporty with both sets of tires.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin started with the prime tire and had really good speed with it. Hamlin was one of the fastest on the prime tires.
