Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Bristol #1 2024
Tyler Reddick – How good was Tyler Reddick this spring? Can’t say I know. In the race, Reddick started mid-pack, stayed out during the first caution on old tires and then proceeded to get run over during the restart and wrecked which led to his 30th.
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell finished 10th this spring but you can get out an asterisk mark for that result. In the race, Bell finished 8th in Stage #1, finished 5th in Stage #2, had the 2nd best average running position (5.7) and led 29 laps. Late in the race, Bell had a tire issue. On lap 420 he was in 2nd but then on lap 440 he had fallen back to 10th. Bell’s Total Speed Ranking for the race ranked 6th but when you look at his speed over the segments he ranked 9th, 4th, 3rd and then 17th.
Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs had a rocket this spring and was one of the best but he finished 9th, which is actually an asterisk mark result. In the race, Gibbs won the two opening Stages, had the best Total Speed Ranking and led 137 laps. Just like Bell, Gibbs had a tire issue late which dropped him back in the running order.
William Byron – William Byron finished 35th this spring but you can quickly disregard that result. On lap 21 while running in 14th, Byron got into the wall hard and knocked out his toe. From that point on, Byron’s afternoon was toast. Byron continued to log laps but since his “competitive race” was so short, no lessons were learned as to how strong the #24 was.
