Charlotte Roval Bank Of America 400 Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Shane Van Gisbergen
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Outlook – Shane Van Gisbergen will be trophy hunting at the Charlotte Roval, and you better believe he’ll show up and be a factor. SVG will have no points agenda and can go all out, and a game plan like that propelled AJ Allmendinger into victory lane last year. At Watkins Glen a few weeks ago, SVG nearly got his 2nd Cup Road course win until a mistake on the last lap, so I think he’ll likely be driving with a little extra motivation. Over his 5 Cup Road course races, SVG has had the best Total Speed Ranking in 3 of them (60%).
Charlotte Roval Track History – SVG has never raced at the Charlotte Roval. I’ll note, SVG did test a project #91 car last year.
William Byron
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Outlook – William Byron will have a fast #24 and be a factor at the Charlotte Roval. Byron finished runner-up hot on Allmendinger’s heels last year and since Watkins Glen 2023 minus Sonoma 2024 and Watkins Glen 2024, Byron has 2-wins and a 3.0. average finish. In the Next Gen at the Roval over the last two, Byron has the 6th best Total Speed Ranking and a 9th place finish. On Sunday, look for Byron to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win. Byron’s already locked into the next round, so he won’t be points racing.
Charlotte Roval Track History – William Byron has been elite at the Charlotte Roval and in 4 of the last 5 races, he’s been a top 6 contender. Over the last five races, Byron has the best Driver Rating, the best average running position and the 3rd best average finish (8.2). Last year, the #24 was stout and Byron finished runner-up. In the race, Byron had a 7.6 average running position, earned the 5th best Driver Rating and had the 5th best Total Speed Ranking. Over the segments, the #24 got faster as the race progressed with his speed by segment rankings being 11th, 6th, 4th and then 2nd. In 2022, Byron finished 16th, had a 15.4 average running position and had the 13th best Total Speed Ranking. It just wasn’t a real competitive showing from him. In 2021, Byron looked great, but finished an asterisk mark 11th. In the race, Byron had the best Total Speed Ranking, led the most laps (30), had the best average running position (5.2) and earned the best driver rating. The final Stage was unfortunately anything but incident free for Byron. On lap 90 while battling for 2nd he missed the chicane which dropped him back to about 11th (had to stop on the track) and then on lap 107 after he battled back up to 3rd, Byron lost control of the #24 and spun into the grass which led to his 11th. In the two Charlotte Roval races prior to that, Byron had back-to-back 6th place finishes.
Tyler Reddick
Charlotte Roval Fantasy Outlook – 3-time road course winner, Tyler Reddick will be tough to beat at the Charlotte Roval and on Sunday, look for Reddick to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win. Reddick’s been a standout performer at the Charlotte Roval and at “Rovals” in general since 2022 (so including Indy), Reddick has 1-win, a 4.8 average finish and the best Driver Rating by a wide margin. Since 2023 at road courses, Reddick has the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking among drivers who competed in every race and his average finish over his incident free races is 4.9 (Minus Sonoma 2023, Chicago Street 2023 and Watkins Glen 2024).
Charlotte Roval Track History – Tyler Reddick has been one of the best at the Charlotte Roval and over the last three races, Reddick has the best Driver Rating, the best average running position and his 5.3 average finish is tied for being the 2nd best. Overall, Reddick’s Charlotte Roval average finish is 7.0. In the Next Gen over the last two, Reddick has the 2nd best Speed Ranking and a 7th place average finish. Last year, Reddick was a points racer so that ultimately hurt his end result, but I wouldn’t argue with anyone who said he was the best. In the race, Reddick won the pole, won Stage #1, finished 4th in Stage #2, led 27 laps, earned the 4th best Driver Rating and then finished 6th overall. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Reddick ranked 4th. In 2022, Reddick was a top 4 performer but finished a slightly misleading 8th due to the wild ending. In the race, Reddick had the best average running position (3.1), earned the 2nd best driver rating, led 21 laps and was running in 4th on lap 103 before late chaos kicked into gear. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Reddick ranked 2nd. In 2021, Reddick was racy and finished 2nd. In the race, Reddick’s primary strength was speed late in a run, and in that analytic he was the fastest. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Reddick ranked 4th. In 2020, Reddick finished 12th.
