Charlotte Roval NASCAR Practice Notes
Group A Driver Practice Notes
AJ Allmendinger – Allmendinger unloaded fast and had a lot of speed. His opening lap among Group A drivers was the best by far. Allmendinger’s 5-lap average ranked as the best over session #1. During his 2nd 20-minute run, Allmendinger wasn’t happy with his car. Burton thought the #16 was very competitive.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott looked really good on the speed charts. Elliott had good long run speed and had the best 10-lap average in Group A session #1. Letarte really liked Elliott’s pace over a run. In practice #2, Elliott had the best 5-lap average.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick had really good pace over the course of a run. Reddick had the 2nd best 10-lap average in Group A over the first 20-minutes. Reddick started with a long 13-lap run. About midway in Group A, Tyler Reddick brought out a caution when he spun after having issues with a chicane. He didn’t hit anything, and it took him time to get refired. In practice #2, Reddick had the 4th best 5-lap average.
Bubba Wallace – Bubba Wallace was looking pretty good on the speed charts. Wallace looked good over his 2nd 20-minutes too. In practice #1, Wallace ranked 4th for 5 and 10-lap averages. In practice #2 he had the 3rd best 5-lap average.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin wasn’t looking all that good over his first 20-minutes. He was in the bottom quarter of the Group in terms of overall speed and his 5-lap average. Turns 3-5 is where the #11 team wanted to focus on over their 2nd 20-minutes. He was too loose in that slow portion of the track.
