Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Homestead
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson looked to be the class of the field last year at Homestead but he finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Larson started 5th, won Stage #1, finished 3rd in Stage #2, led 96 laps, was running in 2nd on lap 211 but then on lap 213, Larson crashed into the sand barrels coming to pit road, ending his afternoon. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Larson ranked #1.
Ross Chastain – Ross Chastain has an ugly overall track record at Homestead and he added to that tally last year with a 31st, but that’s a misleading result and “Performance Wise” he was top ten good. In the race, Chastain started 8th, finished about 12th in Stage #1, finished about 11th in Stage #2, was running in 5th on lap 202 but then he pitted, and was then burned by the Kyle Larson crash shortly after that. Later, Chastain was caught up in a restart wreck which doomed him to a 31st. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Chastain ranked 9th.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. was a top five contender last year at Homestead but he finished a misleading 29th. In the race, Truex won the pole, led 10 laps, finished 5th in Stage #1, finished 6th in Stage #2, was running in 7th on lap 202 but then a few laps later after he pitted, Kyle Larson crashed coming to pit road and that dropped Truex deep in the field. Then later in the race during the Denny Hamlin caution around lap 236, Truex’s engine blew up while he was running around 20th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Truex ranked 3rd.
