Group A Driver Practice Notes
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin was good in turns 3 and 4 but his crew chief wanted him to change things up in turns 1 and 2. Hamlin looked solid running the high-line. Hamlin was mentioned to have a good long run car. Hamlin said his car was pretty decent. They just need to tweak it a little for a short run. In terms of 25-lap averages in Group A, Hamlin ranked 2nd.
Noah Gragson – Noah Gragson was sporty in Group A and had the best 10,15,20,25 and 30-lap averages.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick unloaded fast and climbed to the top of the leaderboard for Group A. Reddick was one of the best running the high-line. Reddick was mentioned to have a good long run car. In Group A, Reddick had the 2nd best 20-lap average.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski had great takeoff speed and had the best 5-lap average in Group A. Keselowski was about mid-pack in Group A in terms of long run speed. His 20-lap average ranked as the 8th best for the Group.
Ryan Blaney – Blaney was mentioned to have really good long run speed. In terms of 30-lap averages in Group A, he ranked 2nd.
Ross Chastain – Ross Chastain was mentioned to fall off a little more than others over a long run. In Group A he ranked 14th in terms of 15,20 and 25 lap averages (out of 19 cars).
Michael McDowell – McDowell was showing solid speed over a long run. In Group A he ranked 3rd in terms of 20-lap averages.
Bubba Wallace – Bubba Wallace was pretty sporty and had good long run speed. Wallace ranked 5th in terms of 20 and 25-lap averages. Wallace was pretty happy with his car during an interview.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano had some sort of power steering issue. He said he felt like he was good over a long run. There’s a good chance Logano will likely start in the rear of the field on Sunday to fix that issue.
Group B NASCAR Driver Practice Notes
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson has a rocket this weekend. He was impressive running the high-line. In Group B, Larson ranked 2nd in terms of 15, 20 and 25-lap averages.
Christopher Bell – Christopher Bell had a tire going down in practice so he wasn’t able to have the best read on his car. Bell said he thinks he learned a little bit. He said the car wasn’t exactly where it needed to be.
William Byron – William Byron was fast and had good long run speed. In Group B, Byron had the best 10,15,20,25 and 30 lap averages.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott is looking for more speed. Elliott ranked 9th in Group B in terms of 20-lap averages.
Chris Buescher – The #17 wasn’t driving the way he wanted.
Chase Briscoe – Jeff Burton was impressed with how Chase Briscoe was looking. Burton thought he perhaps had the best car in practice. Briscoe said his car was extremely strong over a long run. Briscoe ranked 3rd in Group B in terms of 15,20 and 25-lap averages. In terms of 30-lap averages he ranked 2nd.
Zane Smith – Zane Smith was happy with his car. He’s excited for tomorrow. Smith ranked 5th in Group B in terms of 20 and 25-lap averages.
