On lap 43, Allmendinger was off pace and was shown to be smoking. He was then pushed to the garage, and his race was over. Shortly before his problem, Allmendinger was running around the mid-teens.

Big: On lap 63, Denny Hamlin had a really out of shape moment and as a result, Zane Smith spun and hit Josh Berry. Hamlin didn’t hit anything. Berry had a good amount of nose damage and Smith broke his toe link. Smith then took his car to the garage. This marked the end of Stage #1.

Big: On lap 71 during the restart for Stage #2, Joey Logano who was the leader had problems getting up to speed and it stacked up the field, leading to a multi-car wreck. Drivers involved were Chastain, Castroneves, Briscoe, Truex, Busch, van Gisbergen (dropped him two laps down) and Herbst. Logano said it felt like his engine was blowing up. Chastain had a lot of damage and took his car to the garage. Truex and Castroneves’s races were also both over.

Big: On lap 74 under caution, the #22 team did a lot of work to try to diagnose Logano’s engine problem. They changed out his ECU which dropped him a lap down. Logano told his team shortly after this that it still didn’t feel right.

Notable: On lap 80 it was mentioned that when Michael McDowell got out of line he lost about 200 RPM, so he had to stay tucked in line. He was running in 5th at the time.

Big: During the debris caution on lap 82, Joey Logano’s team was mentioned to have finally fixed the issue. It was a piece of debris that went thru his grille and into the throttle body. Logano got back on the lead lap during the lap 82 debris caution.

Big: A “Big One” ensued on the last lap. Denny Hamlin was leading was collected in all the carnage. As was Cindric who was battling Hamlin for the lead. Some other drivers back in the field were also collected. Cody Ware was one of them.
