Ryan Blaney who started on the pole choose to start in the inside lane. Blaney led the opening 23 laps.
Following lap #1, William Byron had to serve a stop and go penalty. On lap 7, Byron got lapped.

Big: On lap 11, Casey Mears in the #66 was spun which brought out the first caution.

Big: On lap 18, Tyler Reddick and Todd Gilliland both spun out. Reddick nailed the inside wall and got notable damage. Gilliland basically just had flat tires from the spin. This collision happened while they were both running just outside of the top ten.

Big: On lap 27, a multi-car accident ensued that started near the front when Logano was sandwiched by Wallace and Busch. Drivers involved were Busch, Smith, Hamlin, Stenhouse, Cindric, Gragson, Logano, Wallace, Bowman, Herbst, Hill and Hocevar. This wreck marked the end of the race for Herbst, Cindric, Gragson, Wallace, Bowman and Stenhouse. This brought out a red flag.

On lap 81, a round of green flag pit stops started. Only a few cars came in early.
Big: On lap 82, Carson Hocevar’s engine blew up. This was during the window of a green flag pit cycle. This brought out a caution when he stopped on the track.
Brad Keselowski had a slow pit stop during the Hocevar caution that dropped him from the top ten to the teens.
