Bowman Gray Cook Out Clash Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks

Ryan Blaney
Bowman Gray Fantasy Outlook – Ryan Blaney is a super-elite short track performer who’ll be tough to beat at Bowman Gray. Blaney nearly raced his way to victory lane in last year’s Clash despite starting last, so just imagine what he might be able to do if he starts halfway decent. At Martinsville which I view to be the best comp track, Blaney has the best Next Gen Average Finish (4.3) and the 2nd best Next Gen Speed Ranking. Last fall at “The Paper Clip”, Blaney finished 2nd and had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking.
Bowman Gray Track History – In last year’s Clash, Ryan Blaney started last, having to take the “Highest in 2024 Points Provisional” but he turned it into a runner-up finish. In the race, Blaney started 23rd, finished 10th at the half-way break and then finished 2nd when the checkered flag waved. In the race, Blaney’s strength was being fast on old tires and in that speed analytic, he ranked 2nd. In other speed analytics, Blaney had the 4th best Total Speed Ranking and in the 4th segment when the money was on the line, he ranked as having the 2nd fastest car on the track.
Joey Logano
Bowman Gray Fantasy Outlook – Bowman Gray is made for a driver like Joey Logano and on Sunday, look for Logano to race hard and be a factor, getting off to a fast start for his “Even Year” good mojo. Logano was one of the best last year, he’s a former LA Clash winner (2022) and at Martinsville he always shows up, having a series best 12 straight top 10’s, with a pair of 8th place finishes last year. Overall in quarter-mile Clash’s, Logano is 3 for 4 at finishing in the top 4 with a 6.3 average finish. Heading into the weekend, look for Logano to be a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Bowman Gray Track History – Last year in the Clash, Joey Logano was tough competition and consistently ran near the front. In the race, Logano started 7th, had the 5th best average running position (6.9), earned the 3rd best Driver Rating and then finished 4th when the checkered flag waved. In terms of speed analytics, Logano had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking and ranked 5th for Speed Late In A Run.
Denny Hamlin
Bowman Gray Fantasy Outlook – Denny Hamlin is a shorter-flat track master who’s always tough to beat on this track type. Hamlin was stout last year in this race, he’s a former LA Clash winner (2024) and at Martinsville, he’s one of the premiere performers, most notably racing his way to victory lane last spring. Heading into the weekend, I would view Hamlin as a top five contender who’ll be a factor to win.
Bowman Gray Track History – Last year at Bowman Gray, Denny Hamlin had a rocket and ranked among the best. In the race, Hamlin started 3rd, was the leader at the half-time break, had a 2.9 average running position, led 28 laps, earned the 2nd best Driver Rating and then finished 3rd overall. In terms of speed stats, Hamlin had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking and ranked 3rd for Speed Late In A Run.

This season, if you have extra time, can you do better or worse projections? The app Underdog has options like:
Ryan Blane better or worse than 6.5
Joey Logano better or worse than 8.5
Ty Gibbs better or worse than 12.5
The app has every driver but the lower tier drivers are locked in at better than 10.5, but they’re higher modifiers

Hi Kenneth, after practice/ qualifying every week, I do have finish projections that would translate to that. Perhaps I might do early week projection like that this year. It was on my radar already but the Clash is just a little too dangerous to do that since Larson is literally the only driver locked in.
