Group 3 Driver Practice Notes

Christopher Bell – During his 2nd run, Bell jumped up to #1 overall. Bell had solid pace over a run. Bell was tied with Blaney for having the best 10-lap average. In terms of 20-lap averages, Bell ranked 5th.

Ross Chastain – Ross Chastain jumped up to #1 for Group 3 drivers during his first run. In terms of 10 lap averages, Chastain ranked 8th. His 20-lap average ranked 7th.

Ryan Blaney – Following his first run, Blaney said his car felt decent but a little bit of work to do. Ryan Blaney jumped up to #2 overall during his 2nd run. During round #2, he jumped up to #1 for 10-lap averages (tied with Bell). Blaney had the 3rd best 20-lap average overall.

William Byron – Following the opening runs for all groups, William Byron ranked #1 for 5,10,15,20,25 and 30-lap averages. During his 2nd run, Byron drove aggressively and even moved Ross Chastain. When practice ended, Byron ranked 3rd for 10-lap averages and 2nd for 20-lap averages.

Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin took practice pretty conservatively and often waved others on by. In practice, Hamlin had the 11th best 10-lap average. His 20-lap average ranked 20th. Earlier today it was noted that Denny Hamlin got an arm injury during the off-season.
