Joey Logano – Joey Logano was arguably the best last summer at Daytona but he finished an asterisk mark 27th. In the race, Logano finished 6th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2, was tied for leading the most laps (27), had the best average running position (8.6) and earned the 3rd best Driver Rating. Late in the race on lap 148 while leading, Logano spun and then got stuck in the grass, leading to his 27th.

Bubba Wallace – Last summer, Bubba Wallace looked great but had a short evening and finished 37th. In the race, Wallace started 22nd, was up to 4th on lap 23 but then shortly after that while running in the top 5, he had contact with Logano and then a “Big One” ensued.

Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin finished 25th last summer at Daytona but I wouldn’t read into that result. In the race, Hamlin was damaged in the lap 27 “Big One” but he continued logging laps in a wounded #11, only to have more problems later in the race (Flat tire).

Kyle Busch – Last summer, Busch showed potential but had a short evening and finished 33rd after being collected in the lap 27 “Big One.” Before his demise, Busch was in 8th on lap 23.

Austin Cindric – Last summer at Daytona, Austin Cindric had a short evening and finished 39th after crashing in the lap 27 “Big One.” On lap 23 shortly before his demise, he was running around 21st.
