Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Las Vegas #2 2025
William Byron – Last fall at Las Vegas, the #24 was a rocket and William Byron was subjectively the 2nd best but he finished an asterisk mark 36th. In the race, Byron won Stage #1, finished 3rd in Stage #2, had the 3rd best Total Speed Ranking, led 55 laps but on lap 235 while running in 2nd, Ty Dillon decided to come to pit road out of nowhere and then William Byron plowed into him, ruining his afternoon.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney had a short afternoon last fall at Las Vegas but he was a top ten contender. Penske had tire concerns all weekend and that issue eventually bit Blaney in the race. In the race, Blaney started 14th, was in 12th on lap 71 but then that lap, Blaney had a tire go down and slammed into the wall hard, leading to his 38th. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Blaney ranked 9th.
Carson Hocevar – Carson Hocevar was a top ten contender last fall at Las Vegas but he finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In the race, Hocevar started 22nd, finished 10th in Stage #2, had a 13.7 average running position, was in 10th on lap 230 but then shortly after that, he was collected in the “Ty Gibbs Restart wreck.”
Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs was a top five contender last fall at Las Vegas but he was the author of his own demise and finished an asterisk mark 34th. In the race, Gibbs started 10th, finished 9th in Stage #1, finished 7th in Stage #2, was in 6th on lap 230 but then shortly after that on lap 243 during a restart, he got overly aggressive and caused a multi-car wreck. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Gibbs ranked 8th.
