Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Bristol #2 2025

Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin finished 31st last summer at Bristol but that’s obviously an asterisk mark result. In the race, Hamlin looked about 10th place good, but his evening wasn’t incident free. In the race, Hamlin started 6th, finished Stage #1 in about 11th, finished Stage #2 in about 11th, ran much of the last Stage right around that mark, was up to 2nd on lap 361 following pit strategy but then on lap 365, he rapidly dropped back in the running order and got into the wall. Then shortly after that on lap 383, Hamlin lost a wheel which doomed him to his poor result.
Ty Gibbs – Ty Gibbs finished 10th last summer at Bristol but that’s a misleading result. “Performance Wise”, Gibbs was the class of the field, but his evening wasn’t incident free. In the race, Gibbs finished 2nd in Stage #1, won Stage #2, led 201 laps, had a 4.8 average running position and had the best Total Speed Ranking. In the last Stage during the final green flag pit cycle while leading, Gibbs had major problems coming to pit road, which included him missing it the first time by which cost him a ton of time and the race.
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson had an ugly race last summer at Bristol and finished 32nd but personally, I would just view it as a no lessons learned evening from the #5 team. Larson didn’t look good, he struggled but also at some point in Stage #1, the #5 got damage that his team spent extra pit stops doing repair. Also, Larson later broke his toe link on lap 365 when he slammed into Suarez.
Bubba Wallace – Bubba Wallace looked pretty good last summer and was a top ten contender but finished a misleading 34th. In the race, Wallace started 8th, finished 4th in Stage #1, finished 8th in Stage #2 but then in the last Stage, things went south. On lap 351, Wallace was in 11th, on lap 352 he was rapidly falling back in the running order and then on lap 354 when he fell back to 21st, he slammed into Stenhouse. Then later in the last Stage on lap 487 while running in the low 20’s, Wallace slammed into the wall which marked the end of his evening.
