Gordon on the Joe Gibbs Racing unapproved oil pans
All I’m going to say about Gibbs cars oil pan is that we had 100 point penalty for a flared left front fender that never went on track. #JG

what does a oil pan do with speed ( balance )
The oil pan issue basically deals with where the center of gravity on the car is. JGR had REALLY big oil pans which essentially moved the center of gravity lower to the ground. I’m not a car technical person but this is more of a handling advantage thing IMO. Good handling does equal better speed tough.
