Darlington Bojangles Southern 500 Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Jimmie Johnson – Last year at Darlington Jimmie Johnson won the race and got Hendrick Motorsports win number 200. Not only did Johnson win he did it in dominant fashion. He started on the outside of the front row, led 134 laps, and earned the best driver rating. Unsurprisingly Johnson has been very good at “The Lady In Black” from a career perspective. In fourteen races he has 3 wins, 7 top fives and 10 top tens. His level of consistency has also been top-notch. Only twice in his career has he finished lower than 15th. The 48 team has been extremely strong this season and there’s no reason why this trend won’t continue in the Bojangles Southern 500. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Matt Kenseth -Matt Kenseth is a smooth driver and he’ll be good in the Bojangles Southern 500. In the last seven Darlington races he has five top tens and has only finished worse than 13th once. Although he has a 17.5 career average finish I view him as a relatively safe pick. Last season in this race he started in 19th and drove up to a 6th place finish. What I really like about Kenseth in this race is his driving style. He takes good care of his equipment and he’ll be around at the end of this 500 mile event. On the track this season Kenseth has been very good. Although Darlington isn’t a “traditional” intermediate track you can’t over look the fact that the #20 team knows how to make the 20 fast and handle well. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch has one of the most aggressive driving styles at Darlington. That driving style can work well but it increases the potential for problems and as you know he’s certainly had a few self-inflicted ones already this season. Darlington has been a very good track for Kyle Busch. He’s a previous winner (2008) who’s finished in the top eleven 63% percent of the time. Last season Busch finished 4th, had a 3rd place average running position, led 44 laps and earned the second best driver rating. One notable strength for Kyle Busch that is a difference maker here is how quick he’s on pit laps. He gets his car to pit road fast, exits quickly and has the best pit crew in the business. This could easily be a difference maker for him in the Bojangles Southern 500. (Yahoo! B Driver)
