New Hampshire Camping World RV Sales 301 Fantasy Picks
Jimmie Johnson – You can’t go wrong if your fantasy pick to win the New Hampshire Camping World RV Sales 301 is named Jimmie Johnson. Last fall at Loudon Johnson finished second to Denny Hamlin. He didn’t have anything for the #11 but he was “the best of the rest”. In the race he started mid pack (20th) because he had tire pressure issues in qualifying but he didn’t stay back for long. He climbed into the top ten in about 45 laps. In the race he had a 5th place average running position and earned the third best driver rating. The strength of his car was that it was comfortable and maintained speed over long runs. In the July race last season he started in 7th and finished 7th. Johnson has been spectacular at New Hampshire minus a few September Chase races where he’s had trouble. Since 2005 he’s only finished outside the top ten three times and all three of those finishes came in the Chase. In 22 New Hampshire races Johnson has 3 wins, 8 top fives and 15 top tens. My prediction is Jimmie Johnson will win this race. The 48 car has been the car to beat nearly every week this summer and I expect that trend to continue. (Yahoo! A Driver)
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin had the field covered at New Hampshire last season. Nobody had anything for him in either race. In the September race last season he performed like Super Man. He said he would win the week before and he lived up to his word. In the race he started deep in the field because of air pressure issues during qualifying (started in 32nd) but he had no problem passing cars. He cracked the top ten in the first 50 laps and he took the lead on lap 94. His pre-race goal was to get into the top ten in the first 100 laps. His car was absolutely dominant and was in a zip code of it’s own. He led nearly 2/3rds of the race (193 laps) and earned a near perfect 149.2 driver rating. In the July race last season his car was phenomenal. In that race he finished 2nd, had a third place average running position and led half the race (150 laps). He likely would’ve won but during a late caution his crew chief called him in for 4 tires and nearly everyone else took two. That got him back in 13th but he put on a passing clinic and got within 120 feet of Kasey Kahne at the end. New Hampshire has been a great track for Hamlin. He’s only won twice but he’s finished in the top five 50% percent of the time and in the top ten 71% percent of the time. Only once in his career has he finished outside the top fifteen. If Denny Hamlin wasn’t in the midst of perhaps the worst stretch of his career he would be my favorite to win. (Yahoo! A Driver)

Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer is one of the best drivers in the series on shorter flat tracks like New Hampshire. He’s ranked as a unanimous top five driver in our Short Flat Track Strength Rankings. Bowyer’s a two-time winner at New Hampshire and would have a third win but he ran out of gas late in 2011 while leading. Last year at New Hampshire he was a fantasy stud. He finished 4th in September and 3rd in July. This season on similar tracks he’s been very strong. At Richmond earlier this season he had his best performance of the season. He finished 2nd and led 113 laps. At Phoenix he finished 6th. Look for Bowyer to be strong in the New Hampshire Camping World RV Sales 301. (Yahoo! A Driver)
