Atlanta Pre-race Notes
This event was Tony Stewart’s first race back from his Sprint Car racing accident.
The outside groove was very unfriendly during restarts
Kevin Harvick won the Nationwide race in dominant fashion earlier in the weekend.
Ty Dillon drove the #33
Joe Gibbs Racing pit crews had phenomenal pit stops which gave them a big advantage throughout the event.

Atlanta Race Notes
Kevin Harvick started on the pole and led the first 80 laps.
Brad Keselowski started in 2nd and fell back to 5th on lap 5.
Tony Stewart started in 12th and moved up several positions in the opening laps running the high-line. He was up to 7th on lap 2.
Jeff Gordon started in 9th and was up to 2nd on lap 9. His car was fast over long runs.
Brad Keselowski’s car really started to come to life about 10 laps into a run.

On lap 34 Kevin Harvick had a 5 second lead over Jeff Gordon who was in 2nd and an 11 second lead over Brad Keselowski who was in 3rd.

AJ Allmendinger made a pit stop under green shortly before the caution came out on lap 39.
Tony Stewart was in 4th on lap 40. He said his car was pretty good but both ends were giving up over a long run.
Danica Patrick got the free pass during the first caution.
Jamie McMurray’s car looked really good running the high-line around lap 45.

Kevin Harvick’s strength was running the low line around the turns.
On lap 78 while Jeff Gordon was running in 2nd he got into the wall after his tire went down.
Denny Hamlin got the lead on lap 81 during pit stops during the Jeff Gordon caution. He then went on to lead the next 22 laps.
During the Jeff Gordon caution Clint Bowyer broke his shifter and was forced to go to the garage for repairs. He was running around 17th at the time of his incident.
