Chicagoland Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick will be a good fantasy NASCAR pick to win at Chicagoland. He’s been a phenomenal performer at the Windy City and this year at 1.5 mile tracks he’s been the driver to beat. In the six races held at tracks of this length he’s scored the most points, has a 4.2 average finish, 4.8 average running position, has led the most laps (306) and has run the most fastest laps (209). At Chicagoland Kevin Harvick is a two-time champion and has a 9.6 average finish. Last year he was very strong and a solid case could be made that he had the best car. In the race he earned the 2nd best driver rating, finished 5th, had a 5th place average running position and led the most laps (79). It should be noted his race wasn’t incident free. During the lap 67 caution he made an extra pit stop for a loose wheel which dropped him from 4th to 20th. In 2013 Kevin Harvick had a strong performance. He started in 17th and in the second half of the event he typically ran 8th or better. When the checkered flag waved he finished 3rd and earned the 7th best driver rating. In 2012 at Chicagoland he had an OK race. He started back in 35th, had a 17th place average running position and finished 12th. In 2011 he finished runner-up. (Yahoo A Driver)

Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski has been very good at Chicagoland and has won two of the last three races. Over the last four Chicagoland races Keselowski has the best average finish (3.5), second best driver rating, the 3rd best average running position (7.5) and has led 144 laps. Last year at the Windy City Keselowski had a strong car and raced his way to victory lane. His win didn’t come easy and he had some adversity he had to overcome. The first is that qualifying was rained out and as a result of focusing heavily on race trim in practice he started deep in the field in 25th. His car was good so that wasn’t too much of an issue. His next issue came under yellow around lap 181 when he made a second pit stop for a loose wheel. At that time he was running in 2nd and it dropped him back to 16th. When the race reached its conclusion Keselowski earned the 3rd best driver rating, had a 7th place average running position and led 62 laps. In 2013 Keselowski had a solid race. He started 2nd, earned the 5th best driver rating and finished 7th. In 2012 Brad Keselowski had a great car and went to victory lane. For much of the race he stalked Jimmie Johnson but at the end when it was time to go he hit the afterburners and drove away from the #48. In that race he started 13th, led 76 laps, had a third place average running position and earned the second best driver rating. In 2011 at Chicagoland he finished 5th. This season at high-speed intermediate tracks Keselowski has scored the 2nd most points, has a 6.3 average finish and is the only driver who’s finished in the top ten every race. (Yahoo A Driver)

Matt Kenseth – Matt Kenseth will be one of the drivers to beat at Chicagoland. He’s an intermediate track ace and Chicagoland has been a great venue for him. This season at 1.5 mile intermediate tracks minus Texas where he had problems he has a 5.8 average finish and a 10.6 average running position. In all five of these races he’s finished between 4th and 9th. In the last three races at these venues he’s had results of 4th, 5th and 6th. At Chicagoland Kenseth has been good. He’s a former champion and his overall average finish is 11.7. Last year Kenseth was solid but he was never a threat. In the race he started 5th, had a 9th place average running position, earned the 9th best driver rating and finished 10th. In 2013 Kenseth found himself in victory lane after the race was over. In the race he earned the best driver rating, led the most laps (89) and had a 5th place average running position. In 2012 Kenseth didn’t have an incident free race. His car lost a shock on the track and he was never competitive after that. Before he lost his shock he was running around 12th. When the checkered flag waved he finished 18th. In 2011 he won the pole, led 46 laps but ran out of gas on the last lap. To make matters worse he was pushed across the finish line which is an automatic penalty on the last lap. If fuel didn’t impact his result he would’ve finished in the top five. With 10 laps to go he was running in 2nd. (Yahoo A Driver)
