Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – Bristol
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney has sleeper potential at Bristol and he knows how to find his way to victory lane. Blaney has victories to his name at Thunder Valley in both the Xfinity Series and Truck Series. This spring at Bristol he had a quality showing. He earned the 8th best driver rating, had an 11th place average running position and finished 11th. Additionally in the race he ran 93.6% percent of the laps in the top fifteen. Last summer when he made his Bristol debut he finished 22nd.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott had a successful debut at Bristol this spring. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 4th and earned the 6th best driver rating. It was a great result because his race wasn’t incident free. Around lap 180 he made an unexpected pit stop and went two laps down. He rallied back from that and did a good job moving towards the front at the end.
Jeff Gordon – The #88 finished 2nd this spring but it’s important to note Hendrick isn’t running well at the moment. Performance wise they’re probably two steps behind Penske Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing at the moment. I think the best case scenario for Gordon is a result in the teens. Last August at Bristol Jeff Gordon ran well and had top five potential but he made some late unexpected pit stops that caused him to finish 20th. In 3 of the 4 Bristol races prior to that he finished in the top ten. In spring 2015 Gordon dodged the carnage and finished 3rd. In August 2014 he finished 16th and led 17 laps. He showed top five potential early but his car got damaged from contact and he never ran as well after that. In the two Bristol races prior to that he finished 7th.
Chris Buescher – If you’re looking to pick Chris Buescher its probably not a bad idea to pick him at a high attrition track. That way if he avoids trouble and the competition drops out he might be able to sneak in a good result. This spring he didn’t have a bad race by his standards. He started 21st, finished 21st and had a 19th place average running position. In spring 2015 he also drove the 34. The attrition rate in that race was very high. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 25th and had a 35th place average running position. Last year in the Xfinity Series at Bristol he had finishes of 3rd and 11th.
Brian Scott – This spring at Bristol Brian Scott made his one and only start. He didn’t run well in the race and was involved in an accident. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 30th, had a 28th place average running position and earned the 32nd best driver rating. It should be noted his race wasn’t incident free because on lap 349 he spun into the wall. Prior to his problem he looked high-twenties good from a performance standpoint.
Matt DiBenedetto – Matt DiBenedetto had the best race of his career this spring and when the checkered flag waved he finished 6th. The attrition rate really helped him. Additionally in the race he had a 21st place average running position and earned the 22nd best driver rating. In his other two starts at Bristol he has results of 21st and 33rd.
