Richmond Fantasy NASCAR Front Runner Rankings
Jamie McMurray – Jamie McMurray is a very solid driver at Richmond. If you’re looking for a dark horse pick he’s about as good as they come. In 5 of the last 8 Richmond races he’s finished in the top 7. Over that eight race stretch McMurray has a 9.0 average finish, the 8th best driver rating and a 10.3 average running position. Currently at Richmond he has back to back top tens. In all of his top tens over this stretch he’s finished between 4th and 7th. In his non-top tens over this stretch he’s finished in the teens. This spring he had a strong showing. He finished 6th, earned the 7th best driver rating and had an 8th place average running position. Last fall he ran well throughout the race. When the checkered flag waved he finished 7th, had an 8th place average running position and earned the 6th best driver rating. Last spring he had his worst recent race and finished 16th. In fall 2015 he had a strong car and finished 13th. I will note he was better than that result. Performance wise McMurray was top 7 good but while he was running in that position on lap 290 he got a pit penalty which dropped him back to 13th. In the four races prior to that he had finishes of 4th, 4th, 13th and 4th. (Yahoo B Driver)

Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson should come home with a respectable result at Richmond. He’s run very well here recently and has six straight top 11 results. Over those combined events he has a 7.5 average finish, a 10.7 average running position and the 8th best driver rating. Currently he has back to back 11th place results. This spring he really didn’t have that great of a race. He finished 11th, but had a 15th place average running position. I will note his race wasn’t incident free because he collided with Earnhardt Jr. but it really didn’t seem to be an issue and he finished right where he should’ve. Last fall Johnson didn’t have a good car and didn’t have a smooth race but when the checkered flag waved he finished 11th. In the race he got lapped under green, got a speeding penalty and got into the wall. Last spring he ran well and had one of the stronger cars over long runs. In the event he started 3rd, finished 3rd, had a 4th place average running position, earned the 4th best driver rating and led 44 laps. In the three RIR races prior to that he had results of 9th, 3rd and 8th. (Yahoo A Driver)
Joey Logano – Joey Logano will be a driver to watch with great interest Saturday night at Richmond. He raced his way to victory lane this spring but following his win his car was found to be illegal, and his win was then encumbered. Ever since then the #22 team has never been the same. On Saturday night I would look for him to challenge for a top ten, but that’s about it. At Richmond since 2014 Logano has been extremely strong. Over the last 7 races he’s finished in the top ten every race, has two wins, and a series best 4.9 average finish. This spring it’s hard to say how much stock you can put in his performance since his car was found to be illegal. In the race he started in the rear of the field and finished first. Last fall at Richmond he had a strong showing and finished 10th. Additionally in the race he had a 10th place average running position and earned the 9th best driver rating. In spring 2016 he missed the setup early but he rallied to finish 8th. In the four RIR races prior to that he had results of 3rd, 5th, 6th and 1st. (Yahoo A Driver)
