Dover Fantasy Preview
Don’t let the Monster Mile gobble up your fantasy hopes this weekend. In order to have a successful weekend at Dover you simply need to know the right way to approach the weekend. Here are a few drivers who I think will stand out among the rest and will slay the monster.
1. Mark Martin – Martin finished 10th earlier this spring at Dover. He ran much better then 10th all day, just click on the link below to see just how good his car truly was. The crazy old man who recently signed a contract extension through 2011 won’t be in his rocking chair at Dover. I fully expect Mark to be a front runner. Martin won earlier this year at Darlington which has some similar characteristics to Dover. You also can’t forget about all the momentum that this team has now.

2. Jimmie Johnson – Remember what happened in the spring race. Jimmie Johnson dominated this race. The 48 car lead 298 laps and recorded a perfect 150 driver rating. Johnson also has the third best average finish in the series (10.4). Johnson was also strong earlier this season at Darlington so the downside on this team is really low.

3. Greg Biffle- In the spring race Greg Biffle was perhaps the only driver who had a car that could contend with Johnson. Unfortunately Greg Biffle was stuck a lap down for much of the race. In the last 9 races at Dover Greg Biffle has a 4.7 average finish which is best in the series. Over the course of a race Biffle also has a series best 6.6 average running place. Don’t discount Biffle this weekend.

4. Carl Edwards – For people who have read my Power Rankings then you know I have been really down on the Roush guys this year. You know what, they deserve it. However, the down year didn’t affect the Roush guys at this track earlier in the year. Roush had 3 cars finish in the top 7. I expect Carl Edwards to carry the Ford banner and talk of a Roush resurgence will then begin.

5. Ryan Newman- The Rocketman once owned this track. The Rocketman is quietly building up momentum (mostly do to a favorable schedule at the moment for him) and in my opinion Dover is his best track. Ryan Newman once won the spring race without power steering. Dover is a track that drivers need to be smooth, but they also need to attack it. Look for the 39 team to have a good weekend at Dover.
