The Fantasy NASCAR “Hail Mary”
Everyone wants to look like a hero in fantasy racing. The best way to look like a hero is to execute the “Hail Mary” move and climb to the top of the board at the last possible moment. The way to pull this move out of your playbook is to get out of sync with the competition (this means picking Jimmie Johnson most likely won’t cut it). So how do you get out of sync with your competition?
The best way to get out of sync with the competition is to:
1) Know your competition
In fantasy NASCAR it’s extremely important to know your competition. When you know your competition (not in the neighborly way) they become predictable. A predictable opponent is a beatable opponent. When you know what they’re going to do, you than know what not to do. If you do the same thing that they’re doing then its impossible to pass them.
2) Study the current weekend
Studying the current race weekend is extremely important. What you really want to study is Happy Hour. Qualifying is trivial at most tracks, and practice is a great indicator of what will happen in the race. If a certain driver is really struggling on race weekend, and statistically their a favorite then to me they become the driver who you want to avoid like the plague and hope that others pick them.
TIP: If you notice a specific driver is struggling don’t be afraid to suggest them to a friend.
3) Hope for the best
Hoping for the best is when you decide your going to bite the bullet and go for it. Another important element of this is that people have a “luck bank” just like Darrell Waltrip says. If you keep on tapping into it too much don’t expect o have any luck when you really need it.
