Talladega Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500: Fantasy NASCAR “Front Runner” Rankings

Kasey Kahne – In the last two Talladega races Kahne has finishes of 6th and 4th. Kahne only has two other top tens at Dega and they were second place finishes in 2009 & 2006. Despite his shaky history I think Kahne is a good prospect for the Good Sam 500. He has momentum and at Daytona he had a strong 7th place finish (July). Kahne has done a good job of avoiding trouble on the track (last crash was in June at MIS) and that’s an attribute I want in a driver this week. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Greg Biffle – Biffle has arguably had the second fastest car on restrictor plate tracks this season. The #16 was really fast in May and on the final restart he pushed Kenseth to a big lead over the field. The problem was that it was to big and they quickly got reeled in. If their lead wasn’t to big he would’ve finished 2nd. He ended up finishing 5th. One concern that should be noted about Biffle is his dependance on Matt Kenseth. He doesn’t seem to do a lot of things at plate tracks without him these days. In the last seven Talladega races no driver has scored more points than him. This team is falling apart so pick him at your own risk. (Yahoo! B Driver)

Joey Logano – In four of Logano’s first five races at Talladega he finished in the top ten. In the last two he hasn’t been as fortunate (finished 24th and 26th). At Daytona Logano currently has three consecutive top tens. His finishes in those races are 3rd, 9th and 4th. Logano has a knack for plate racing and I think he has a good chance to once again finish in the top ten. Logano also has momentum and has been running a lot better since his Penske announcement. Goes to show how much the “so called experts” really know, Jeff Burton who has done nothing since I can’t remember is a good plate racer. Look no further than his 4 straight top tens on plate tracks. Also, guess who drafted with him the last two fall races at Talladega? None other than the two time defending winner in Clint Bowyer. I don’t see that changing on Sunday.

I don’t think you have an account (certainly not with that email address) but Jeff Burton is the first driver mentioned in the restricted portion of this content. Here it is if you would like to see it:
Jeff Burton has sleeper potential at Talladega. Last fall he came close to winning but Clint Bowyer passed him on the last lap. This spring he finished 10th. He’s also had some other good recent races here but their disguised by where he finished. In the last nine Dega races Jeff Burton has the best driver rating in the series. In those nine races he’s finished 16th or better seven times. Jeff Burton has been one of the best plate racers this season. His 5.7 average finish ranks as the 2nd best in the series. Only Matt Kenseth has scored more points than him on this track type in 2012.
