Charlotte Bank Of America 500: Fantasy NASCAR “Front Runner” Rankings
Matt Kenseth – Matt Kenseth is the defending champion of the Bank Of America 500. Last year he started in 2nd, led 46 laps and earned the best driver rating (136.0). From a career perspective Charlotte has been a very good track for him. He won his first race here in 2000 and has finished in the top ten in 54% of his races. This May in the Coca Cola 600 Kenseth had one of the best cars but he had a pit road mistake which set him back for the remainder of the race. With the long green flag runs he never had ample opportunity to regroup. He ended up finishing 10th but as I said he was better than that (Yahoo! Race Chart). This season on 1.5 mile tracks the #17 team has been very good. They have an 11th place average finish and have scored the 9th most points. (Yahoo! A Driver)
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been one of the best drivers on 1.5 mile tracks this season. He’s the only driver in the series who has finished in the top ten in every one of these races (7 for 7). No other driver has even finished in the top ten six times. One slight pause for caution is that he’s only finished in the top five once in these races. In May Junior finished 6th and had a 11th place average running position. In last years Coca Cola 600 he came close to victory but ran out of gas on the final lap. (Yahoo! B Driver)
DALE EARNHARDT JR. WILL NOT RACE AT CHARLOTTE

Greg Biffle – Greg Biffle has been one of the best 1.5 mile intermediate track drivers this season. The problem for him is that he hasn’t been one of the best lately. I’m concerned about this team. They’ve really floundered recently. His recent finishes at 1.5 mile tracks are 21st (Kentucky), 15th (Atlanta) and 13th (Chicagoland). Roush cars need to excel at these tracks and their not. Also since his win at MIS he’s finished outside the top ten in five of the last seven. In May at Charlotte Biffle was very impressive. He led more than half the race (2004) and finished 4th. His 135.5 driver rating was tied with the race winners. (Yahoo! B Driver)
