Fantasy NASCAR Not So Fast: Las Vegas Kobalt Tools 400
Juan Pablo Montoya – Juan Pablo Montoya hasn’t had a whole lot of success at Las Vegas. He finished 3rd in 2011 but all five of his other finishes are 19th or worse. Another factor that is a cause for concern is the fact that he’s only finished on the lead lap twice. Last year Montoya really struggled here. He started in 29th, had an average running position of 28th and crossed the finish line in 25th. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Austin Dillon – At Las Vegas Austin Dillon will be driving the #51. I think he’ll appear as more of an attractive option then he really is. Last year this team didn’t even know if they would be in existence in 2013. For this reason I believe their behind the game competitively especially at high speed intermediate tracks. Last year at Vegas Kurt Busch wasn’t bad in the #51. Make sure you read what I wrote about him. (Yahoo! C Driver)
Bobby Labonte – Bobby Labonte is a driver who you can pencil in for a sub twenty finish. In the last three years he’s had finishes of 26th, 24th and 38th. In the Kobalt Tools 400 I can’t think of a reason why you should expect better. The #47 team isn’t competitive and the introduction of the Gen 6 car won’t help. (Yahoo! B Driver)
David Ragan – You don’t need a crystal ball to know how this race will play out for David Ragan. I’ll assure you it won’t go well. Even when he was in Roush Fenway equipment he wasn’t successful. He finished 8th in 2008 but all of his other finishes for the organization were 22nd or worse. Last year at Vegas he finished 21st which tied for his best finish at a non-plate track in 2012. (Yahoo! Danica Patrick – Don’t be fooled by what happened in the Daytona 500. It’s proven to take Danica Patrick a long time to adjust to a stock car. In this race everything that she’s learned can be thrown out the window because this is the first race of the Gen6 car on an intermediate track. An early warning sign about her for this race came from the Charlotte off-season testing. In the testing session her best lap was four miles per hour slower than Aric Almirola who set the fastest time. Last season at intermediate tracks in the Sprint Cup Series she had a 28.4 average finish. (Yahoo! C Driver)
