Fantasy Racing Not So Fast – Kansas STP 400
Juan Pablo Montoya -Juan Pablo Montoya has really struggled on the track this season. You don’t want any part of him on your fantasy team for the STP 400. This season on high speed intermediate tracks he has finishes of 19th, 38th and 20th. Those numbers don’t install any confidence. At Kansas in fall 2012 Montoya had a 21st place average running position and finished 16th. (Yahoo! B Driver)
Jeff Burton – Jeff Burton had a very poor performance last October at Kansas. He started in the rear of the field because of an engine change and stayed back there until the first pit stop when his team used strategy and climbed up to the high teens. Then on lap #78 Burton got into the wall hard which ended his day. The bottom line about Burton is can you trust him? I know I can’t. The only thing consistent about him is his struggles. (Yahoo! Casey Mears – Casey Mears has been a pleasant fantasy NASCAR surprise this year. Given the tier he’s associated with he’s over performed many peoples expectations. In 57% percent of the races this season he’s finished in the mid teens. My only concern about him is his performances at 1.5 mile tracks. At Texas he finished 31st and at Las Vegas he finished 29th. Danica Patrick – Last year at Kansas Danica Patrick started in the rear of the field because of an engine change. In the race she was very uncompetitive. If it wasn’t for pit strategy she would’ve never ran higher than 30th. On lap #155 Danica Patrick wrecked herself while she was trying to teach Landon Cassill a lesson. (Yahoo! C Driver)
Bobby Labonte – Bobby Labonte clearly shouldn’t be on your radar for Kansas. This team simply isn’t competitive and Bobby Labonte hasn’t been good for a decade. Last fall at Kansas on lap #142 he was running in 30th but wrecked. This season on this track type Bobby Labonte has been really bad. (Yahoo! B Driver)
