During the first round of pit stops Aric Almirola had a very slow stop that dropped him back in the running order. He was in the top ten at the time.
Martin Truex Jr. got the lead on lap 43
On lap 43 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wrecked and Austin Dillion sustained damage after contact. Stenhouse Jr. was in 21st at the time.
On lap 51 Kevin Harvick was up to 12th. His car was very strong in the high-line around Texas.
Greg Biffle started in 33rd and was up to 16th on lap 59
On lap 76 Kyle Busch passed Martin Truex Jr. and retook the lead.
78 laps into the race Carl Edwards said something didn’t feel right with his engine.
On lap 81 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was back on the track and he had a tire rub that created smoke. NASCAR called a caution for this just to be on the safe side.
Running order on lap 83 …. 18,48,24,56,11,20
On the restart following the Stenhouse Jr. tire rub caution Johnson lost nearly 10 spots and fell back to about 15th.
