Yahoo C List Fantasy Racing Preview – Auto Club 400
Kyle Larson – This is Kyle Larson’s home track and I expect him to perform well in the Auto Club 400. In 2013 in the Nationwide series at Fontana he started 9th, had a 7th place average running position and finished 6th. Michigan is the sister track of Auto Club Speedway and last season at that venue in the Nationwide Series he finished runner-up. One notable strength of Kyle Larson’s on this track type is that he performs very well at tracks where the high line is the fast way around the track. At Auto Club Speedway it’s the fastest groove.

Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon has solid dark horse sleeper fantasy NASCAR potential heading into the Auto Club 400. Last season this rookie raced twice at Michigan which is Auto Club’s sister track. At that venue he had his two best results of the 2013 season. In June at MIS he raced a defacto RCR car and finished 11th. In August he raced the #14 for an injured Tony Stewart and finished 14th. The 2013 Nationwide Series champion has a few races under his belt at California in the lower series. In both 2013 and 2012 he came home with 5th place finishes. Don’t overlook Austin Dillon, he could surprise people on Sunday.

Danica Patrick – The Auto Club 400 should be another challenging weekend for Danica Patrick. To be successful here you need to be able to run the high-line around the corners to keep the speed up on the straightaways. I don’t believe she’s developed that ability yet. In her first career Nationwide Race at Auto Club Speedway she ran the low line all around the track. Since then I don’t think things have really changed. Last season at Auto Club she started in 40th, had a 31st place average running position and finished 26th. The glimmer of hope for Patrick is her June Michigan performance. In that event she finished 13th. In August she wasn’t able to back up her result and finished 23rd. At Las Vegas Patrick finished 21st.
Brian Scott – Brian Scott will be driving the #33 car this weekend. This car will likely be RCR prepared even though it’s owned by Joe Falk. In 2013 in the Nationwide series he finished 8th. In 2012 in the lower series he finished 4th. In the two Sprint Cup races he’s participated in this season he’s finished 25th (Daytona) and 32nd (Phoenix). Last fall in the Sprint Cup series he raced at Charlotte and finished 27th.
