Jimmie Johnson – Started practice strong with a +18 lap run. Chad Knaus told him, “Right where we need to be.” Later in practice Chad Knaus was still happy with his lap times. Practiced coming down pit road. He seemed pretty upbeat about his car. Had the best 15 lap average. With 20 minutes left he said he was struggling on landing. In the closing minutes Chad Knaus said, “Nice and easy through three and four. You’re really close man.” At the very end Johnson got into the wall and damaged his car. He likely will not be going to a backup car.
