Yahoo C List Fantasy NASCAR Preview – AAA Texas 500
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson should be your Yahoo C List fantasy NASCAR pick for the AAA Texas 500. He has Top Tier Elite talent and will compete for a really good result. This season he’s been very strong at 1.5 mile tracks and in the Chase he’s stepped up his game to a whole new level. In the Chase races at tracks of this length he’s scored the second most points, has the 2nd best driver rating and the second best average finish (3.7). At Texas Kyle Larson has two races under his belt. This spring he was impressive and ran fast lap times running the high-line. When the checkered flag waved he finished 5th. Last fall in the #51 car Larson started in 36th, had a 27th place average running position, earned the 25th best driver rating and finished 23rd. I would overlook his performance last fall and not let it scare you away.

Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon has recently been showing improvement on 1.5 mile tracks. In the Chase races held at these venues he has a 12.3 average finish, 14.0 average running position and has finished in the top sixteen every race. His last two results at 1.5 mile tracks are 8th and 13th. His recent success bodes well for him in the AAA Texas 500. At Texas Dillon has three starts under his belt and has a 25.3 average finish. This spring at Texas he was simply a low twenties performer. He finished 21st, had a 23rd place average running position and earned the 23rd best driver rating. Last fall he drove the #33 which was RCR prepared and he was once again simply a low twenties driver. In that event He started 21st, finished 22nd and had a 23rd place average running position. In his first race at Texas Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ran into the side of him and damaged his car and as a result he finished 33rd.
Trevor Bayne – On Sunday Trevor Bayne will be driving the #21 for the Wood Brothers. At the last 1.5 mile track he drove a Roush Fenway car and missed the race. At Texas Bayne has a 20.9 average finish. I think that result is highly reflective of what you should expect if you pick him. He’s raced here 8 times and has six results between 17th and 22nd. Earlier this year at Texas he had a 15th place average running position, finished 19th and earned the 19th best driver rating.
Danica Patrick – Danica Patrick has had some good performances at 1.5 mile tracks this season but she’s been erratic. In the Chase races held at 1.5 mile tracks she has a 20.3 average starting position, 20.3 average finish and a 20.0 average running position. The good news about her is that Atlanta is similar and at that venue she finished 6th. At Texas Danica Patrick has experienced zero success. She’s raced here four times and has finished between 24th and 28th every race. On Sunday Danica Patrick will have a new crew chief so that could prove interesting in terms of how she performs.
