Why Kevin Harvick will/won’t win the championship
Why Kevin Harvick Will Win The Championship
Kevin Harvick will win the championship because he’s a clutch performer who can rise to the occasion. His win at Phoenix is proof of that. Further evidence is his Daytona 500 win, Brickyard 400 win and his All-Star Race win. Of the drivers vying for the championship he’s probably the most mentally tough.
This season at 1.5 mile high-speed intermediate tracks Kevin Harvick has arguably been the strongest performer. He’s had a lot of problems along the way but at 1.5 mile tracks he has the best driver rating for the season. In the last two races at 1.5 mile tracks he’s recorded finishes of 1st and 2nd. If he would’ve been able to avoid trouble at 1.5 mile tracks this season he could’ve potentially won half the races.
Another factor you have to like about Kevin Harvick is how well he’s performed at Homestead. Since the track was reconfigured in 2003 he’s only finished lower than 10th once and has a 7.1 average finish.
Why Kevin Harvick Won’t Win The Championship
This team has cost themselves a handful of races this season with self-inflicted problems. Thinking that possibility doesn’t exist in the season finale would be absurd.
On a year-to-year basis nobody seems to have more pit crew problems than Kevin Harvick. I know he hasn’t had issues recently but I think this problem could strike at any time and he’s probably due for some type of issue. Just thinking about this issue I can already hear him yelling over his radio on Sunday.
