Pocono Axalta 400 Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon had a quality season at Pocono in 2014. Last August he earned the 12th best driver rating and finished 15th. Also in the event he had a 17th place average running position and ran more than half the event in the top fifteen. In June 2014 prior to the race RCR used one of their allocated test sessions here. It’s hard to say it really helped him because he had a mediocre performance. He started in 11th, had a 22nd place average running position and finished 17th. His driver rating for the race ranked as the 18th best. It’s important to note his race wasn’t incident free. On lap 85 during a restart he got penalized for switching lanes too early. As a result he had to do a drive through penalty under green. At the time of the incident he was running in 24th. Because of where he was running at the time it’s hard to say it really affected him. Casey Mears – If you’re looking to roll the dice on somebody Casey Mears might not be a bad option. Last August he had a quality performance. He started 24th, had a 20th place average running position, earned the 15th best driver rating and finished 12th. His good finish is the real deal and over the last +40 laps he typically ran between 12th and 15th. Prior to his good result last August he had three straight results in the lower twenties. Prior to his low twenties stretch he went five straight races finishing between 30th and 36th. (Yahoo B Driver / DraftKings $7,900)

Aric Almirola – Last August at Pocono Aric Almirola was one of 13 drivers who were involved in the “Big One” on lap 117. Except for portions of the race where he ran artificially high because of pit strategy he really didn’t run that well. When the checkered flag waved he finished 35 laps down in 35th. Prior to that event he had been the model of consistency at Pocono. In his next four most recent Pocono races he finished between 18th and 22nd every race. If he didn’t wreck in August 2014 I think a result within that range once again looked likely. In June 2014 he started in 22nd, had a 22nd place average running position, finished 22nd and earned the 22nd best driver rating. In August 2013 Almirola started in 10th and fell back in the running order early. His race wasn’t incident free. On lap 102 while he was running in 19th he had a left front tire go flat and he spun into the wall getting minimal damage. When the checkered flag waved he finished 20th, had a 16th place average running position and earned the 16th best driver rating. In June 2013 he had an uneventful race and finished 21st. Almirola’s best Pocono finish was an 18th in August 2012. (Yahoo B Driver / DraftKings $8,300)
