Pocono Asterisk Mark Report
In every race there’s drivers who walk away with misleading results. Pocono last August was no exception.
Jimmie Johnson had a good car last August but his race wasn’t incident free. In the race he had two problems. His first problem was a flat tire on lap 10 while he was running in 17th. That dropped him down a lap to 43rd. His next problem offered no opportunity for him to bounce back. On lap 113 while he was running in 5th he got into the wall hard and then immediately went to the garage.

Only Johnny Sauter had a shorter race than Kyle Busch last August. On lap 23 while Kyle Busch was running in 17th his cockpit filled with smoke. That led to him going to the garage and being done for the day.
Greg Biffle was low double digit performer at best but late in the race he played the pit strategy game. That got him the lead and while he was up front he led 11 laps. If he didn’t play the pit strategy game there’s no way he would’ve finished 5th. That’s why he’s only listed as an honorable mention driver in the PROS Rankings.
