Joey Logano – Made laps before practice by driving the pace car around the track. He also spent time on simulators preparing for this race. His car was too free and he wanted more forward bite.

Jeff Gordon – Said turn 10 is the most important corner. His car showed good speed.

Kurt Busch – Said his car took a lot of effort to steer. His team made some changes to his power steering pump. Used this session for testing and tuning. Using a brand new chassis. He ran this entire session on one set of tires. Said his car is close to where he needs to be.

Trevor Bayne – Making his first Sonoma start. Did a +9 lap run early and didn’t show good speed.
