Ryan Newman – Darlington has been a great track for Ryan Newman. This track is home to his best top five finish percentage (44%) and top ten finish percentage (69%). In 8 of the last 10 races he’s finished in the top ten. Last year Newman had a solid evening. He finished 10th, had a 10th place average running position and earned the 8th best driver rating. In 2013 Newman also finished 10th. That 10th place finish deserves an asterisk mark. In fantasy NASCAR it’s important to look beyond the results and see what really happened in the race. In the event Newman got lapped twice and got two Lucky Dog Awards. That makes his 10th place result look less appealing to me. Also in the race he had a 16th place average running position and earned the 16th best driver rating. In 2012 he started in 4th but fell back when the green flag waved. With 7 laps to go he was running around 15th but got collected in a late wreck. As a result of that he finished 23rd. In 2003 Newman likely would’ve won here but while he was leading on pit road he hit his kill switch and couldn’t get his car fired up. (Yahoo A Driver)

Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. has run well at Darlington and he’s a driver who you should consider. This has been a good venue for him and his overall average finish is 13.1. He’s raced here 9 times and only twice has he finished lower than 14th. Last year he had his worst race, but it should be noted it wasn’t incident free. Performance wise he was probably low teens good. On lap 266 while he was running in 13th he got into the wall hard. After that he was finished and you could essentially stick a fork in him (finished 27th). In 2013 at Darlington he was very competitive. He started 5th, finished 12th, had a 12th place average running position and earned the 11th best driver rating. In 2012 Martin Truex Jr. had one of the best cars in the field and was very strong over long runs. In that race he started 6th, had a 4th place average running position, led 25 laps and finished 5th. Late in the race he was in the mix for the win but with about 60 laps left he pitted from the lead and many other drivers elected not to pit. Clint Bowyer – Clint Bowyer has been consistent at Darlington and in the last three races he’s finished in either 11th or 12th. Last year he had a solid afternoon. He started in 16th, had a 14th place average running position, finished 12th and earned the 12th best driver rating. For nearly the entirety of the second half of the event he ran between 7th and 15th. In 2013 he had one of his best Darlington performances and finished 11th but it should be noted he ran better than his result. With 130 laps to go he got a pit penalty when his fuel tank left his pit box. As a result NASCAR forced him to come down pit road for a drive through penalty and he lost a lap. At the time of the incident he was running in the top ten. Also in that event he earned the 10th best driver rating and had an 11th place average running position. In 2012 he also crossed the finish line in 11th and earned the 12th best driver rating. Overall in his career at Darlington he has 1 top ten and a 20.1 average finish. (Yahoo B Driver)
