Denny Hamlin – Was on crutches walking to his car before practice. “The steering is too stiff and the throttle is too soft.” Later he said his car is too tight in the center and it was really hard to turn. In a post practice interview he said he was alright and his car was OK.

Kyle Larson – Had very fast times over his opening run. He’s using a new chassis and a new setup. Tested here in June. He feels like his car is OK but said he needs to work on forward drive.

Kasey Kahne – 40 minutes into practice he said his car rotated better in turns 3 & 4. Feels like his car is pretty close and it feels alright. He’s fine tuning.
